This terms inquiry focus is healthy me, healthy you so we are doing different rotations learning about Olympians and the Olympic games. Today in Room 4 we learned more about Valerie Adams. This is a poster to show just a few things I learnt and already knew.

Term 3 - Immersion assembly

Since today is the first day of a new term the whole school gathered for an immersion assembly. The main topic for this term is 'healthy me, healthy you' so we will be focusing on our health.
Out of all the performances my favourite was the one our team 5 teachers did. They made they're very own Olympics on stage, and entertained everyone. The other performances were just as good and explanatory.

The countries that we had participate in our team 5 Olympics were U.S.A, Australia and of course New Zealand. The first performance was by Australia (Miss Hill) her score was a 2 and 3, but although she failed she gave us a reflection on how she could improve which is one of the reasons its my favourite. There's always something you can improve so keep trying. :)

Every teams focus is very similar, with the main focus being our bodies and keeping ourselves happy and healthy.

Moon - Art work

When working with Mrs Stone yesterday we learn't about the moon, and created our very own moon too. My favourite fact I learned was that the moon is Earth's only natural satellite, I included this fact in my animation. We talked a lot about the moons appearance and how it is covered in craters which were caused by asteroids.
While making the moon everyone realised how hard it was to glue the tissue to the paper to create the craters. The painting was fun though and much easier because the glue was dried up.

My Watch This Space animation

This term we have been learning about 'watch this space' this is my animation for it, it's kind of short and not completely finished but I still wanted to share it with you all. I hope you enjoy it.

Writing challenge

The goal for this writing challenge was to write a 6 sentence story about the pictures above which were of a busy road, a gorilla and a pink tutu. We also had to use the word shock/shocked as well as speech marks and an exclamation mark.

Me and my group - Simon, Alrida and Tahliyah - all wrote our own versions of the same idea we shared, this was the version we all agreed to present.

Tutu, the most beautiful gorilla of them all, had been kicked out and left on the streets to starve. On the busy streets, Tutu had done multiple performances in his bright, hot pink, tutu to earn himself some money.

There was this one expensive-looking car, with a rich-looking man exiting. The man walked up to Tutu giving him $10,000 while saying ‘nice tutu’ after the man said that he stole his tutu.

“I’M GONNA WEAR THIS TUTU FOREVER, IT MAKES ME MORE BEAUTIFUL!”

Tutu was shocked by his actions and cried for he was no longer Tutu if he didn’t have a tutu..

A speech on why we shouldn’t do speeches

Hi, my name is Nadia and I present to you my speech about not doing speeches. I’ve got a question to start things off: How many people here even like writing a speech?

Well it’s often difficult for people to produce an idea or topic they are confident enough to talk about, plus there’s sometimes the stress of a deadline. I’m talking from experience.

To the people who do like writing a speech, do you like presenting it in front of others? If you do, I find you weird, don’t take it personal though. Some people can get anxiety or stage fright from public speaking so doing speeches isn't very pleasant for them.

I know I don’t seem like that type of person but even some of the most famous people are bound to get nervous. I mean look at me, even I’m nervous. *flips non-existent hair* But it's always good to step out of your comfort zone every now and then, it’s just better if you decide when and how.

Anyways, I’d like to thank you for listening to this speech, on not doing speeches.

This is my speech. I choose to write it about not doing speeches. The task was to write and speech and present it to the class. We had a time limit where it had to be between 50-60 seconds.

3.6 Ki te aha?

 3.6 Ki te aha?

Today as the year 7's were off at tech we - year 8's - did our rotations again. I'm in group Toru so we did our DLO first, which I hope I can finish and put on my blog soon. Then we did multi sport which was fun, and last was Te Reo. We learn't how to say were we are going and why we are going there.
