Te Reo (Days and months)

Today while the year 8's went to tech, I stayed with the rest of the year 7's at school doing Te Reo and sports. This is the Te Reo work I have done today. We learn't how to say the different months and days, and how to use them in a sentence or question.

3D shapes

Today during the maths period we made our own 3D shapes using pipe cleaners and straws. I made a heptagonal prism that has 9 faces, 14 vertices, and 21 edges. It was quite difficult to make the shape but I still had fun and learnt lot's about 3D shapes.

Different triangles

Today we've learn't about right angles, acute angles, obtuse angles, and an reflex angle. I learn't that a right angle is 90 degrees, and an acute angle is less than 90 degrees, if it's more than 90 degrees then it's a obtuse angle. If it goes pass 180 degrees than it's considered a reflex angle. I also learn't about the different triangles, like an Isosceles triangle or a scalene triangle. An Isosceles triangle has only two angles and two equal sides. A scalene triangle has no equal sides nor angles.

The water cycle

Today we've learnt a bit about the water cycle, and what each stage is called. First it's evaporation, next is condensation, after that is precipitation. There's also Sublimation and transpiration.

Washing your hands

This weeks literacy work has been about washing your hands. I've read a text on the best way to wash your hands, and I've done a summary. I wrote my steps on how to wash your hands based on the text I read. This is just some of the work I have done this week, I can't wait to share more!

The Quadrilateral

Today during the maths block we had looked at quadrilaterals, parallel shapes/lines and I bit on angles. We also did a quiz and recap on polygons. I've learnt quite a few things that I didn't know before from this lesson. It was a great way to expand my knowledge.

Healthy Food : How to make sushi

Today we had to share a healthy meal with you guys as it is apart of Taha Tinana (Physical health). This is a simple recipe on how to make sushi, you could try this at home whenever you'd want to. It doesn't take long to make, it's quick and easy. Sushi is one of my favourite foods, so I hope you enjoy as much as I do! :)

Polygon

Today we have used tooth picks to create different shapes like a triangle, pentagons, and more shapes. We also learnt more about what makes a polygon a polygon. After using the tooth picks we had to go and make our own shapes using a dotty grid, in this slide it shows that the shape I made has 5 side, 5 vertices, and 5 angles it's also a convex shape. One of the new things I have learnt today is the meaning of polygon, in Greek poly means many, and gon means angle.
