Bryde's whales

Hello! Welcome or welcome back to my blog.

Today we had an extension meet where we continued talking about one of the endangered whale species in NZ, the Bryde's whale.

I found 3 interesting facts on the whales to share with you along with a few things we can do to stop their population numbers going down. I found out that one of the main causes of death are collisions with big ships, plus some of them get impaled on a ship's bow and dragged into port. With less ships around they would be in less danger. A more simple solution that anyone and everyone can do is to keep our environment clean by doing little things like picking up rubbish.

Diorama design plan

Today's extension task was to create a plan for our space diorama. We kept the design plan simple and easy to follow. We've planned to basically make the solar system with a few facts and theories. I've been working on this with Aye and Valessa.

Streets For Everyone - Project done 🗸

On Wednesday the whole of the Extension group/class took a walk around Anderson Ave, and the area near by. On that walk we took a look at our projects we created throughout term 1. We got to test and try each others activity's. It was a lot of fun!
This is me, Kiarah and Valessa's activity, The Kiwiana Puzzle. If you want to know more about the process we went though to create it check out some of my previous posts or check out Kiarah and Valessa's blogs.

Provocation: Watch this Space

During today's extension lesson Miss West gave us all a scenario about Earth becoming uninhabitable in 12 months. We had to think about what and how we would do thing to leave the planet as soon as possible. On each slide was a question we had all answered in our own ways with the knowledge we have. The different colours represent a different person's answer. If you're looking for my answers they're in light purple with black highlights.

On the last slide is our different project ideas. Me and Aye wanted to do theories on Mars and Earth, and possibly our own theory on what would happen to Earth if we were to leave.

Streets for everyone project

This term for extension we've been working on a big project called Streets for everyone. We've been work with people of The Open Fort (Toby and Bahv), to help with the project. The reason we are doing this project is to make the streets we live on more safe and fun.

We are in different group and doing different things. I'm in a group with Valessa and Kiarah (you should check out their blogs). In our group are main idea is connect the dots. The slides below show how we've extended the simple activity into multiple ideas.

Next week we hope to install some of our work onto the streets. It's been a lot of fun working with Open fort on the project along with my team mates, Valessa and Kiarah.

Here are a few photos we took on our walk around the neighbourhood, (there was a video I wanted to add but I can't so enjoy the photos).
