Multiplication Magic 2

Multiplication Magic 2
We are learning to use place value to solve multiplication problems using whole numbers.
Times table practice:
5 x 5 = 25                                   7x7= 49
4 x 4= 16                                    8 x 8= 64
3 x 3 = 9                                     11x 11= 121
6 x 6= 36                                    5 x 4= 20
9 x 9 = 81                                   10 x 10= 100

Factors of 16 = 1, 2, 4, 8, 16

Multiples of 8 = 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 96.

A prime number is a number that can only be times by 1 and itself to equal itself, for example, 11 x 1 = 11 no other times table can equal to 11 which makes 11 a prime number.
25 x 25 = 625
20 x 25 = 500
5 x 25 = 125
500+125= 625

25 x 245 = 6125
200 x 25 = 5000
40 x 25 = 1000
5 x 25 = 125
5000+1000= 6000+125= 6125

267 x 250 = 66750
200 x 267 = 53400
50 x 267 = 13350
54000+13350= 66750

    Show your working under each problem:

1.  Mrs Flavelle orders 15 boxes of cookies for camp. If each box contains 18 cookies. How many are there altogether?
15x18= 270
15x10= 150

2. Mrs Tele’a orders 12 cans of beans for camp. Each tin contains 240 beans. How many individual beans has she ordered?
12x240= 2880
200x10=2000+400=2400
40x10= 400+80= 480+2400= 2880

3. Room 4 is baking a rectangular cake for the garage sale. It is 22cm long and 16cm wide. What is the area of the cake?
16x2= 32cm
22x2= 44cm+32cm= 76cm
4. Marika has brought some lollies in to share with the class for her birthday. She has brought 14 packets which contain 32 lollies each. How many lollies are there altogether?
14x32= 448
14x2= 28
14x30= 420
28+420= 448

5. If each of the 160 students in team five paid 135 dollars for camp, how much money would the camp make from our visit?
160x135= 21600
160x100= 16000
160x30= 4800
160x5= 800

16000+4800= 20800+800= 21600

Serious Subtraction 2
We are learning to solve subtraction problems using whole and decimal numbers.

Times Table Practice:

3x3 = 9   5x5 = 25 8x7 = 56    12x10 = 120 4x6 = 24 5x7 = 35   2x4 = 8 3x8 = 24 9x8 = 72 4x7 = 28   9x7 = 63

Show your working for the following problems, either on here or in your books

AJ is also at the vet with his rabbit. His rabbit has had expensive surgery. If AJ has 10.25 left in his bank account and he started with $525.80, how much did the surgery cost?
525.80-515.55=10.25
525-515=10
0.80-0.50=0.30-0.05=0.25
0.5+0.05=0.55+515=515.55
